Interesting or Useful Links Page
This is the page for useful or interesting links on a range of subjects.
- Google - The search engine I
use most often. While it may not work for everyone, it sure works
well for me. It generally lists pages in descending order of their
relevance to my search entry.
- Whatis.com - A useful site for
information on technology subjects. It provides definitions for technological
terms, phrases and items.
- The Mudcat Cafe
- Takes you to a site where you can search for lyrics to traditional
folksongs. I've found several old ballads using just a phrase or two.
It lists different versions, too, if they contain the same line.
- Placer County - The Web site
I manage and maintain, certainly on my list of favorites.
- Dutch Flat Community Club
- Another site I created and (sort of) maintain. Yes, it needs a little
work.
- National Public Radio - Source
of much fascinating stuff, in addition to their wonderful radio news
and information.
- Project Gutenberg - An international
effort to get books in the public domain published on the Web ...
a very worthy effort.
- The New Yorker -
Great writing, cartoons, interesting items in their archives.
- James Fallows' site -
Writes well on interesting topics. Used to be a commentator on NPR,
was editor at The Atlantic and covered Japan for that magazine.
- This American Life
- A truly terrific public radio show - check it out!
